Study Guide- Advanced Literature Exam

Literature 2nd Advanced Exam: Wednesday, January 23rd

The following stories will be on the exam:

The Cat Who Thought She Was a Dog
Two Kinds
A Day’s Wait
Melting Pot
Seventh Grade
The Third Wish
The Charge of the Light Brigade
The Californian’s Tale
After Twenty Years
Papa’s Parrot

You should study each of these topics (the type of question used is written after the topic):

1) Know the names of the authors of every story we’ve studied. (FILL IN THE BLANKS)

2) Know the definitions of the vocabulary from all of the stories. (MATCHING)

3) Know the basic plots of the stories and what happens in them, along with the characters’ names and the settings of the stories. (MULTIPLE CHOICE AND SHORT ANSWER)

4) Know the following literary concepts from the book: moral; motive; prefixes and suffixes; conflict and internal conflict; climax; idioms; tone; point of view; direct and indirect characterization; foreshadowing; narrator’s description. (MULTIPLE CHOICE)
